A girl who aspired and achieved!
“If you believe in yourself, have dedication and pride – and never quit, you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.”-Paul Bryant
Depression and negativity always knock our door when we are unable to achieve well desired goal and somebody else hits the bull’s eye. Who is therefore responsible for our not reaching the top of the stairs we dreamt of? The answer to the question varies for different individuals as the way they think matters. Life is cruel and this has always been true for everyone in some way or the other, yet we see some people still get their piece of pie. Does universe play a role in all this negative and heartbreaking lifestyle of ours? The answer can be well deducted out of the story I am hereby going to describe.
From normal school education in the small city of Panipat to SAP Labs India Pvt Ltd, this journey of Esha Verma has never been as easy as it sounds. She never went for the world class IIT/JEE coaching that resulted in her getting into a decent engineering college and then the SAP success.
Also, why does this story inspired me to write a hell more about her? Let us read through the article and find the reason for the same. Here are the questions I asked her and the answers amazed me:
Tell us your life story?
Back in school, I wanted to get into some IIT/NIT as is dreamt by every Non-medical student. I am a hard core believer of the fact that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Although I never dreamt of any college in particular, but something with which I can make my parents proud. I relied on self-study and my parents and friends motivated me to my core but the hard work didn’t pay it off and I had to take admission in a private college. It shattered me from inside, yet I always kept saying there is something positive to come.
I am particularly a homesick individual and a true engineer. I have always remained a 9+ pointer student even though I never studied for more than a night for any of my exam and still remained one of the toppers. My parents always asked me not to score that high, because that would make it hard for me to get a job, as companies prefer students in a certain range of CGPA. I tried my hard to keep my score down, I studied the least of all, what else could be done? Also, most of my weekends and even many of the weekdays were spent at home. Those 3 years of rigorous travel and useless exam schedules rewarded me a job at Infosys.
I had been so shattered and devastated in the months I spent at Infosys: they have an awesome campus but they spoil your lives with their hectic schedules, not letting you enjoy a bit of it. You will be surprised to know what it followed. Jobless me!! Yes I left the job, this amount of work and hectic lifestyle has never been my cup of tea.
This was probably the second time life showed me that dear child you still need to have some patience, just wait and I will make sure you have the best of anything in the world.
Even after all that happened, I just kept walking, no matter how slow towards the things I wanted. After 5 months of joblessness, a friend of mine noted me that there are a few job openings in SAP Labs. However, she warned me that it is highly impossible for us to get there as the company hires individuals from premier institutes. Meanwhile I cleared CAT and got calls from all new IIMs, IIM Shillong and IIM Kozhikode. Also I managed to get a job at TCS.
I cleared the aptitude test for SAP Labs, a sort of achievement because the test is considered to be one of the best designed test to hunt the right talent. I, however, decided that till the time I reach my goal I will be positive no matter how impossible it sounds to get into SAP Labs. This motivated every vein of mine. I can’t even think of any other times when I studied that hard. I had 5 rounds of interviews to get into SAP Labs. After every interview, my heart used to skip some beats. I cleared each one of it. Unbelievable it was. It took me almost an hour to swallow it. I did it. This time my hard work paid me.
Now, whatever it may sound to you, I will call it luck and the power of positive thinking that made me through. Had that friend of mine have never notified me of this role, I would have been jobless or might be working like all other engineers. The pay is handsome, 8.5 LPA, more than what I could ever dream of as a fresher.
What is your Philosophy of life?
Dream what you want, walk for it, towards it and be positive. No matter how hard it is, you are going to make it.
Life is never as hard as we assume it to be. We just have to trust the God’s timing and our dreams. I must say law of attraction really works.
What is your biggest learning?
I never assumed that I have failed. Even if I have hit the ground, I have kept trying. Success will be mine one day. Also, keep practicing law of attraction, it really helped me through the way.
One thing that you like to say to the youth?
No matter where you see your life going, imagine it to be the way you want. It will automatically be redirected to the route you dream of. You are powerful, only when you accept that you are. Else, life is same for all, what makes you stand apart?
It is one of the amazing interview that I had. Although I have heard of many other success stories, the positivity of Esha mesmerized me. Life may take you anywhere, if you be positive it can just make the ride worthwhile. Also, adding to the point that law of attraction really works, many of us are unknown of the ways to justify the fact.
The basic law that we all studied from Einstein is that everything is energy, mass can easily be converted into energy. Also, law of attraction says like attracts like. If I relate the two, I can say that everything is energy and positive energy attracts positive while negative energy attracts its counterpart. Now, we all can say what Esha said makes sense, she has always been positive no matter what, no matter how small the things might have been or how bad the things have been, which gave her the fruitful result.
No matter how hard it is, no matter how hard it gets, I am going to make it. – Les brown.
Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you. –Walt Whitman
