Whole night she had been thinking what to wear and now she got up early to get ready and look the best she could. Not that he was going to love her for her looks, but she wanted to look the best. She wore the top he loved and a pair of denim jeans. Left her hair open, as he thought she looked beautiful with loose hair.
He gave her a call and she knew he was here.
With a beautiful smile on her face and a lovely accent, she answered “just coming down”.
He loved the way she said emphasized on the word “just”. He could imagine her face, while she said that.
She sat into the car with him, and was ready to answer his first question- “did you have breakfast?”
“Nooo, I couldn’t get time.” He already knew the answer. Still he would ask this every time. She deliberately never had breakfast, because she loved to eat with him.
They drove to their favorite restaurant and on the way, talked about everything they did the previous day.
Their talks were full of excitement, laughter, jokes on each other, and also counseling each other when any of them needed it. In between the talks, he held her hand and didn’t leave it even while changing the gear. It was like they both changed the gears together.
They reached the breakfast spot, their favorite place.
And as he stopped the car, she woke up.
It was all a dream. A beautiful dream she loved. And she smiled as she woke up. She is 60 now, and he had passed away 25 years ago. Still, she breathes that freshness of their love. She cherishes every moment together they had lived. It was a life full of love and she was still living that in her heart.
